Large Works at Ruff Plastic Surgery Center

For Capitol Hill Art League members only: A unique opportunity has presented itself for CHAL artists to exhibit approximately 15 pieces of two-dimensional art (preferably large) at the Ruff Plastic Surgery Center at 2440 M St NW.

Up to two artists will be accepted for each three-month exhibit period. Selected artists will be responsible for hanging their artwork, handling sales directly, and removing their art at the end of the exhibit. No commission will be collected.

Artwork that sells must either remain on display until the end of the exhibit or replaced. The facility has a professional hanging system that is easy to use. The first exhibit will take place Jan 28–Apr 29, 2016.

“Critters” January’s 12X12 call for artwork

12x12 image

The theme for our first show in 2016 is “Critters.” Whether they are covered with fur, feathers, scales, or shells, our non-human friends bring us joy. Our upcoming “Critters” exhibition is your opportunity to portray you favorite animal, bird, fish, insect, or reptile in a 12″ x 12″ format. We are thrilled to have one of our favorite jurors, Ellen Cornett, return to select our “Critters” for the CHAL Wall. Ellen is a very creative artist, teacher at CHAW, and recently voted to be among the top ten artists of Artomatic 2015.
As with our previous 12″ x 12” shows, the outside of each piece entered, including frame, must be exactly 12″ x 12″, no more, no less.
Receiving will be Saturday, January 9th from 9:30 to 11:30, and Monday, January 11th from 9:30 to 11:30.
Jurying will be Wednesday, January 13th and hanging will be Thursday, January 14th.
Our opening reception and juror talk will be Saturday, January 23rd, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm.
