Artists’ Choice/Members Vote May-June 2020

Once a year, CHAL artists (only) pick their favorite artworks for their own group exhibit, this year it will be posted ONLINE. It is non-juried/no theme and members submit one or two of their BEST work(s) of art for this exhibit. Most artwork is for sale! Contact: chalartists@gmail.com for purchases.

Members voting/ award: May 1-May 31– Members (only) VOTE for their fav art work! Please email the name(s) of the artist/title of the artwork to: chalartists@gmail. TWO votes per member. The winner will be announced June 2 and will receive a gift card donated by Plaza Art in DC.

June 2, votes are closed and the tallies are noted. The artist who broke a three way tie (with 4 votes total), is Karen Cohen with Blue Skies. Following with three votes each is POD III by Tamora Ilasat and Pink Pointsetta by Julie Byrne. All the votes are recorded next to the artwork for this show. 22 members voted! Thank you for voting and for a great show.

   With signs of Spring all around us outside, our thoughts turn to Beginnings– new ones, missed ones, fresh starts….new beginnings we are waiting for while hibernating in solitary isolation and social distancing.

Rhythm and Blues OPENS Feb. 15!

Juror and award winning artist, Justyne Fischer, selected the following CHAL members/artists to exhibit in the Rhythm and Blues members’ show and awarded the following:

First Place: Tamora Ilasat-Compositions in Blue II, collage and acrylic painting

Second Place: Kenneth Bachman- Presence, oil painting

Third Place: Jane Mann-San Diego, photography

Honorable Mentions: Karen Cohen-Federal Brass Band 2019, photography/collage

November 11-December 11 Carolyn Rondthaler at Velocity Condos

November 11  – December 11, Velocity Condos at the Capitol Riverfront  will feature watercolor exhibit, called LET IT SNOW by CHAL member, Carolyn Rondthaler, in Velocity conference room. After Dec. 11, the conference room will be undergoing renovations and no artwork will be on exhibit from CHAL till further notice.

For this exhibit, CHAL express their artistic representation of GRATITUDE: – a feeling/emotion, a trait, an expression, a motivator/purpose, a behavior, a sense of well being……..

Participating artists/members are: Karin Edgett, Ann Pickett, Carolyn Rondthaler, Gloria Grandolini, Jeffrey Levine, Rindy O’ Brien, Elizabeth Eby, and JoAnn Lamicella Laboy (also our Exhibit manager).

Dr. Halim and his staff invites the public to a party/ reception on Friday, Nov. 15th from 5:30 to 7:30pm
