“Beauty is Everywhere” Exhibition

Open Juried Exhibition for CHAL Artists

CHAL has been invited to display artwork at the new office of Dr. Mana Ogholikhan in Greenbelt, MD. Her request is for “Contemporary, Modern, Bright, Abstract, Funky, Pop” art.

Dr. Ogholikhan is a dermatologist, so art which interprets the human body would also be appealing.

Rolling Entry begins Saturday March 6, 2021 and goes until April 20th. Artists will be notified if work is accepted and arrange with Ann Pickett for drop off. $5.00 per entry with a maximum of 5 entries per member.

Process: Entrants may submit up to 5 digital images in the online process at Smarter Entry. To enter go to: and follow instructions. If you don’t already have an account with Smarter Entry, you will set one up as “First TimeUser.” Necessary information includes title, artist name, medium, dimensions, and price. Digital files for viewing should be JPEG format, saved at high resolution with the longest dimension being no more than 1200 pixels.

All work must be original and signed by the artist. Photographs and digital manipulations are considered original. All work must have been created within the last three years. Submissions begin March 6, 2021 – closes April 20, 2021 at midnight.

Entry Fees: CHAL members may submit up to 5 entries for a non-refundable fee of $5.00 per entry.

Accepted Work: Our juror will select the final exhibitors from the Smarter Entry submissions and will consider the theme and size as part of the criteria for selection. Her selections will be a “rolling process” and artists will be notified when their work is accepted to arrange delivery of the artwork to Ann Pickett.

Sales: The price submitted on the Smarter Entry registration online form will be the price presented at the time of the show for accepted work. All sales will be arranged directly with the artist and the artist will send a 10% commission fee to Capitol Hill Arts Workshop. Artists will make arrangements with buyers for delivery or drop off of sold artwork.

The Capitol Hill Art League (CHAL) is a program of the Capitol Hill Arts Workshop. Located in the historic Capitol Hill neighborhood in Washington, DC. Seventy artists/members from the DC metro area exhibit and sell original artwork at CHAW and various venues in the DC region. CHAL/CHAW hosts lectures on art related topics, offers workshops, and strives to support this vibrant community of artists.

Symbolism juried members exhibit at Frame of Mine

Humans identify people, places, events and things with symbolic meanings. For example, a four-leafed clover symbolizes good luck to some folks. We express the invisible or intangible by means of visible representations. Conventional or traditional signs are often used to represent
divine beings, spirits or certain emotions. CHAL members are invited to submit 2D artwork in any media, including photography, using the theme, Symbolism.

Members voted for their one favorite artwork in this show. Kim DiDonato-Murrell received the most votes for her abstract painting called Take A Walk on the Wild Side with Deb Fury’s Simple Altar in second place. Kim will receive a $25 gift certificate to use at Frame of Mine. Deadline to vote: December 2 at 2pm sharp.
